March is well into spring here in West Sonoma County. The willows get fuzzy, the iris have been blooming for weeks, the mustard is ablaze in yellow, and the hills are green. Rain is still likely during the month but typically the big storms are over. The beach weather can be quite windy but hiking in the hills is superb in March. Let's take a look around....
Update 3/16: There has been a lot of rain! It's going to be a great spring!
Occidental Weather:
The Black Brothers Band: Occidental Center for the Arts March 16 8-10 pm; This looks like a winner!
Abbie Gabrielson March 17th: For those of you who like classical piano music, this would be a good call.
Meredith Axelrod: Songs from a bygone era. March 25th 4-6 pm: This would be a great pre-dinner event! I read a statistic the other day that dead folks outnumber us living folks 14 to 1. So this would be a nod to eras passed.
Alfred Hitchcock festival, Bodega Bay March 17th. If you are into edgy old films by Alfred Hitchcock this would be a fun day for you. The Birds was filmed in the town of Bodega and along the Sonma County Coast. I still think of the movie when I see a common gull flying about.
Chris Smither: Sebastopol March 17th 8 PM; This looks like a good time at the Sebastopol Community Center.
Sebastopol Film Festival. March 22 for four days: I have never been to this but it might be worth checking out.
Well, that should get you started. Make sure to check out my "things to do" section of this website. And consider an evening at Barley and Hops in Occidental. Great beer selection, great atmosphere. Total winner!
