December 2014

The months just keep marching on! December is my month of contemplation....how's it going? Did you get any wiser this year? Did you learn to enjoy the moments of your day? Did you lose the news and noise and learn to live a more peaceful life? How's that selflessness going?.... Well, I got a year older anyway...

The Redwood House is a great quiet place for contemplation. Some mornings are white with frost and some days are filled with rain. The gnarly storms give you a free pass to hang around and relax while the clear crisp days beckon for exploration. Like I say, easy to put on a jacket but really hard to put on an air conditioner. I prefer the cooler winter days to any hot day in the summer. Cool and green....ahhh, that sounds good about now. Gurgling brooks, big muddy rivers, crystal clear streams, scary ocean waves...it's all there...as well as quaint towns decorated for Christmas. OK, that's it, I'm reserving the entire month...... Oh........ nevermind........ my college kid just hit me up for more money...

Update: Nov 21: Planted wildflower seeds in the meadow below the house so hopefully there will be some great flowers in the spring. A fair bit of rain so far this winter!

Occidental Weather:
Hopmonk Sebastopol:

December 7th Occidental Center for the Arts: Peppino De Augustino: This is a gold nugget! I'm not sure how they got Peppino to show up in Occidental but he is a must see. He is one of the best acoustic guitarists I have ever seen. His style is nuanced and unique and he is a humble and engaging fellow. He may show up with some of his truly elite musician friends or perhaps his daughter who is an epic singer. I can't say enough about this guy...he is truly amazing.

December 5th Occidental Center for the Arts: Nina Gerber and Lucy Kaplansky: Let's hear it for the homie! Nina is a Sebastopol native and graduate of Analy High School (I didn't name it!). She is an outstanding guitarist and is very well known in Sonoma County and the Bay area. I have not heard Lucy but she is well reviewed and if she is with Nina she must be good.

December 20th Occidental Center for the Arts:  Celtic harpists! This sounds like a mystical exotic evening!

I will scope it out!
