Sonoma County has had 20 inches of rain as of 12/16! The Russian river was four feet above flood stage when I was up there last week and house was without power for three days. That was quite the storm with ten inches of rain falling at the house in 36h. What this amounts to is creeks that are full, lakes and ponds filling up, and beautiful green everywhere you look. Compare this to last year when I was mountain biking on dusty dirt roads in December. Such is the El Nino northern oscillation pattern. Sea surface temps are .9C warmer than average which no doubt contributes to the rainfall. The sound of rain on the open beam ceiling is welcome indeed. So get out there! Look at my "things to do" page and explore the countryside. Cozy up for dinner at the house or end up in Occidental at the Union Hotel for dinner. Hey, what can I say...I'm in a rut! Why mess with success?

Green Music Center:
Sebastopol Weather:
Sebastopol Cultural Center: Folk singers at 730 PM. Looks like fun.
Hopmonk Tavern Sebastopol: Lots of live music!
Sonoma County Calendar of Events:  Maybe some interesting things to do here!
Joseph Phelps in Freestone: Like I say, any excuse to visit Freestone is a good one. Check out my outlying areas section of this site and take a look at Freestone.
Duncans Mills: Well, there is an art show going on, but you should consider driving out there for a cup of coffee and a look at the Russian River.
Jenner: May as well have lunch at the Rivers End Restaurant in Jenner. Beautiful views of the Russian River emptying into the Pacific.
