Freestone:
Osmosis enzyme bath is a spa in Freestone offering a fragrant cedar enzyme bath or massage. Beautiful meditation garden. www.osmosis.com
Wild Flower Bread: Across the street from Osmosis, Wild Flower Bread has a garden in back where you can enjoy a tasty pastry or buy a loaf of bread. http://wildflourbread.com/
Occidental: Scroll down on the link for a great pic of Occidental. Where to begin? Occidental is my hands down favorite town around. Hmmm....
Union Hotel Restaurant: Lunch and dinner...you gotta do it. The Union Hotel is the centerpiece of Occidental and offers outdoor seating in the better weather months both for their restaurant and their pizza parlor. They also have a wonderful bakery and coffee shop so stop by for a cup in the morning. Call a pizza in from the house and drive the five minutes into town to pick it up! www.unionhotel-restaurant.com
Howards Station: It's all about breakfast at Howards Station and they do it well. On weekends in the better weather months I would get there early to beat the crowds. Some outdoor seating on the front porch overlooking town. Cash only but they have an ATM inside. I love this place! You will too. Click here.
Negris: Family style Italian dishes with a long tradition of good service. Here
Sonoma Canopy Tours: Feeling adventuresome? Allrighty then! I don't think there is a bad time of year to zip between and among the redwoods. My 80 year old in-laws treated my family to this last December and we had a ball. I was more freaked out about rappelling off the final platform than my mother-in law! If you want to get in touch with the redwood forest, this is one way to do it. www.sonomacanopytours.com
Hazel Restaurant: Hazel is really a great place. Five minutes from the house with excellent thin crust pizza, lovely atmosphere and super tasty Brussel sprouts!! Call ahead as they get busy. Here.
Graton: I have searched the internet for a decent picture of Graton and this link is the best I could do, which is why we all love Graton! Graton is the most under rated, under appreciated, unsung town in Sonoma county, and that's fine with us! Graton is in the heart of the wine country just five minutes from the house. There are several restaurants in Graton, a few wineries of note, and the Joe Redota trail which can be travelled on foot or bike from Graton to Forestville or from Graton all the way through Sebastopol into Santa Rosa.
Joe Redota Trail: Very pretty paved trail through the vineyards and countryside. Here
Underwood Restaurant: www.underwoodgraton.com
Willowwood Market/café: www.willowwoodgraton.com
Mexico Lindo Restaurant: Gotta love the fish tacos! Nice outdoor seating. www.mexicolindograton.com
Lynmar Winery: Beautiful gardens! http://www.lynmarwinery.com/
Iron Horse Winery: Another winner! www.ironhorsevineyards.com/
Graton Art Gallery: Voted the best gallery in Sonoma County 2013. Beautiful sculpture garden.
Sebastopol: The pic I chose here is the Methodist church which was remodeled by the same man who built Sebastopol Redwood House, James Henningsen. The town has changed a bit since the old days when the train went down Main Street. This picture was taken during the apple blossom parade which was a big event each year when I was a kid. There are many shops along main street, and too many restaurants to mention so please refer to this Sebastopol link.
Sebastopol Farmers Market: Year round! Check it out.
Laguna de Santa Rosa Trail: The Laguna is a wetlands area between Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, emphasis on wet. In the winter it is often flooded but the rest of the year there are vineyard views, birds, meadows, and the lagoon itself which is quite pretty. The trail is dirt and accessible by foot or bike. About ten minutes from the house.
